The Fair Season is upon us. There are two ways (amongst myriad others) that you can support the kids at the fair more-or-less directly. The first is to attend the sales that occur after the children have shown their animals. Sales are held on an evening toward the end of the fair (Union County's West End Fair is Friday night at 7 pm in Laurelton, about a mille off 45, just turn right before the Boomerang Bar and Grill). The other way is to buy through the shop, we can offer a set price for any animal called a buy-back...often times the people who purchase an animal are only interested in supporting the child, not necessarily taking the animal home so Rising Spring or any other meat shop has the option of making an offer that would subsidize the purchasers bid, they pay the difference between the set price (made on a per pound basis) and their winning bid. These animals are generally very well fed, hear that as grain, so if you are grass fed guru, this is not for you.
Its a great cause and a great time to put meat in your freezer. We know that there is a need for buyers of market goats and lambs so if you are interested in, its a good opportunity to put either in your deep freeze. Let us know, we'd love to work it out with you. You'd be supporting kids in both 4H and FFA!
